Nikon Coolpix 880 Camera Review

Nikon Coolpix 880 is often called as the "baby" Coolpix 990.But,why?880 camera certainly seems to be, from our test and image quality comparisons the 880 comes very close to the 990. Obviously you lose the split body, you lose the excellent magnesium alloy case ,the 880 also appears to have a very slightly smaller internal buffer making burst abilities a little less than the 990 but still far beyond 990. And Coolpix 880 with powerful rechargeable battery (nikon en-el1 battery)

Nikon Coolpix 880 info:

  • 3.34 megapixel CCD delivering up to 2048 x 1536 pixel images.

  • 1.8 inch, low temperature, polysilicon, TFT color LCD display with brightness and hue adjustment.

  • 2.5x, 8 to 20 mm lens (equivalent to a 38 to 95 mm lens on a 35 mm camera).

  • 4x digital zoom in 0.2x steps.

  • Built-in flash with five modes.

  • JPEG, uncompressed TIFF still-image formats and QuickTime movie file format.

  • Image capture on CompactFlash card with an eight megabyte card included.

  • USB and serial cables for connection to a computer.

  • NTSC or PAL video output formats, with cable included.

  • Powered by a rechargeable Nikon EN-EL1 lithium-ion battery or a 2CR5 lithium battery.

  • Auto and manual focus options.

  • Apertures of f/2.8 - 4.2 or f/7.8 -11.3. (Variable with lens zoom setting)

  • Variable ISO setting from 100 to 400 with an Automatic option.

  • Manually adjustable white balance with seven modes.

On a happier note, Nikon includes a sturdy lens cap with a strap so it won't fall off. If you turn on the camera without taking off the lens cap, a message on the LCD reminds you to take it off.

The included 2CR5 lithium battery may last a while, you can buy another better nikon en-el1 rechargeable battery. It can supply you enough energy.

The 880 is simply an excellent digital camera, it takes excellent pictures and has every feature you'd ever need, things that may not seem useful at first but you'll grow into using.

In January of 2008, Casio introduced the Exilim EX-Z80. It's a small 8-megapixel ultra compact with powerful lithium ion casio np-60 battery. The EXILIM Zoom EX-Z80 is a digital camera that features a very compact, tightly formed design which offers the functionality needed to easily take photos and shoot movies, yet also offers a design feel conducive to carrying it around almost like a fashion accessory.

The EX-Z80 features an 8.1 megapixel sensor and Casio's Exilim Engine 2.0, which "delivers sharper photos and higher-quality videos using less energy than ever before-and at faster speeds, thanks to an improved signal processor." The camera accepts SD, SDHC, MMC and MMCplus memory media and Casio includes a rechargeable lithium ion battery(NP-60 battery), battery charger with AC power cord, USB and AV cables, a wrist strap, CD-ROM, and basic reference material with each camera.
